Over the weekend, Saab Magalona celebrated her 30th birthday at the maternity ward of East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City.
"Best way to spend my 30th birthday: spent the afternoon at East Ave Medical Center to give donations to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and to the mothers of NICU babies!" the celebrity mom wrote on Instagram.
She brought "boxes of newborn clothes, swaddles, booties, mittens, and cloth diapers!"
The blogger-musician wrote, "The East Ave Medical Center NICU ward has a capacity of 70-80 babies, but right now they have about 110! Some babies (the healthier ones) have to share bassinets.
"They are also way understaffed with 1 nurse taking care of 10-15 babies.
"This is why we are grateful for your donations, big or small!"
Aside from basic baby essentials, Saab also gave electric breast pumps.
She revealed on her Instagram post that "the East Ave Medical Center’s NICU ward only had 1 breast pump for the mothers of 100+ babies."
Saab underlined, "Breast milk is sooo important, especially for premature babies, so expressing milk while the neonates are too small to actually latch will make sure milk production won’t stop!"

The mother of Pancho brought along her friend, Lisamarie Santos, who is the admin of the NICU Families and Preemie Support Group on Facebook.
The group played an essential role in helping Saab and her husband Jim Bacarro cope with their first few days as parents.
"I encourage mothers of premature babies and those who went through a NICU experience to find support by joining our Facebook group!" Saab continued.
"It's #PrematurityAwarenessMonth and we got lactation specialist Abbie Yabot to give a breastfeeding and newborn care talk for new mothers!"
